You may have come to this page from a link on Barnsley Council’s website for information about Barnsley Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP).

Barnsley’s first Biodiversity Action Plan was published in 2002; a revised second BAP adopted by Barnsley Council in 2010.

Since then a revised Barnsley Biodiversity Action Plan has been produced by Barnsley Biodiversity Trust. It brings it more up-to-date, provides additional information, and makes some corrections.

This revised BAP was first produced in more comprehensive format in 2015 and has been updated since then. It has been published online on this website. It reflects changes in government policies, the status of habitats & species, and the situation on the ground in Barnsley.

It was referenced in the Barnsley Local Plan (2019) and in the Barnsley Biodiversity Supplementary Planning Document (2024).

The revised plan can be read on this website from the menu above or from the image of its home page on the right.

If you need any further information on the BAP not available in this plan, then email barnsleybiodiversitytrust@gmail.com.
