Much wildlife depends on farmland and farmers have a key role in conservation. Farmland includes fields that are grassland pastures and meadows as well as arable fields.


Field edges with hedgerows are important habitats as are arable field margins and infield areas managed to benefit farmland species. These as well as the different forms of grassland are local priority habitats.
